Battle of St. Michaels at The Fool's Lantern

St. Michaels earned the title "The Town that Fooled the British" during the War of 1812 by hanging lanterns high in the trees and from the masts of their ships, diverting British cannon fire and fooling their soldiers. The Fool's Lantern is named in honor of this clever feat.
